heres a story. Guy from out of state buys a house. Its a definite fixer upper. Its in a bit of sad shape. Has a lot of land. Crawl space is very low to the ground and another section of the home was built where the garage floor was. There is no access to that crawl space without cutting a hole in the floor. Its missing siding on one side, eaves are rotted out. No maintenance has been done in years. Its in sad shape but your getting a great deal on the home with a lot of land. The Bedrooms are in a bit of disarray, couch and bed shoved into the corner with a built in book case so you can barely walk in the room. Someone shoved a blanket in the chimney on the outside. Def needs a remodel. The main trunk line for the HVAC is touching the ground in the center of the home. So you really cant see the front of the crawl space and you cant really walk on the floor above since there's so much stuff in that bedroom. One room has things in it stacked to the ceiling so entry is not permissible. You let the guy know it has a low crawl space, areas that couldn't be viewed are omitted. Also states low crawl spaces are prone to high moisture levels, and wood destroying organisms, consult with a professional.
Guy starts fixing up the home, as he tears into it he finds rotted joists in the area where it couldn't be viewed. Guy calls you up angry ( understandable) You go out to see the case. Guy doesn't show up, his large friend does and comes at you angry and trying to intimidate you, You stay calm no biggie, just an angry guy.
You call the guy and make a peace offering, offer to pay 1/2 the costs of the materials, and since you were a carpenter for a good part of your life you offer to come over and help them put new joists in a weekend. Guy denies your offer, even though you didn't have to offer anything. Guy says hes going to sue you. You warn him to take the offer and we can become friends instead of enemies, if you sue your gonna lose and be out attorney fees and the most you will get is a refund. Guy sues, loses wont take the refund and states I don't want the $$ I want to roast you on the internet. So that's what he does under anonymous.
Basically his remodel is costing more than he anticipated, so he wants to blame me and have me pay for it..BTW guy put up a 30k metal pole barn at the same time....
How would you react or handle this?
Inquiring minds want to know..
Also been doing this for 10 years, first person who ever did this to me. Kind of disheartening to see the level of anger and victimization that is becoming common place in today's society.
99% of my reviews are 5 Star and people thanking me for a job well done until this fella. I will leave him as anonymous.
