Most service members treat a PCS as a move. It is actually a 15 year real estate track.
Every set of orders puts you in a market you are required to live and work in. That is a built in reason to buy strategically instead of renting for three years and walking away with nothing.
One example. A buddy PCS'd out to Hawaii. He figured out how to buy there, and he now owns property most people never will. When he left, he rented it to the next soldier coming in.
That house never had to be sold.
Which duty station would you have bought in?
