LAKE EFFECT UPDATE: Snow will significantly intensify later this afternoon, especially after sunset. I suspect a single 20-mile wide band will develop from north to south. 1" to 2"/hr likely under that snow band, and blizzard conditions are a near-certainty. No issues outside of this snow band.

I still think the most likely location for this band to sit & pile up snow will be between US-35 & US-31. If you are traveling between South Bend and Chicago later today or first thing Thursday, you will have to go through this. It will be a very dangerous 20 miles. Outside of it, no issues.

This is my final forecast. As it develops, I'll certainly post updates on exactly where it sets up. It is still possible it is a tad farther east than I have on here. Remember -- if you're looking at radar later today and see that strong band, that's the big snow. If it's not over your town, you probably won't get much/any. This is one of those setups where xx town gets a foot, and 10 miles away, it's literally clear sky.

TAKEAWAY: Travel under this band tonight/tomorrow morning will be extremely difficult and dangerous. This is the setup where cars pile up on interstates. Outside of it, very little/no issues. It will be this one snow band.
