💔 RIP

Today began the final goodbyes for NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller. We all know what happened Monday night in Far Rockaway, when he was shot to death by a career criminal who was out on bail. A simple traffic stop, that turned into a senseless murder. And a good man, ripped from his family forever.

Jon was a true Long Island guy. From Franklin Square, now raising his family in Massapequa Park, and finally doing the job so many said he knew he was meant to do. Protecting people from the bad guys.

I didn’t know Officer Diller, but from the stories I have heard over the past week, I know he was a great man. I don’t think I have fallen asleep one night since the shooting without thinking about his wife, Stephanie, and his little son, Ryan… and what they do now. Nobody will be able to make sense of it for them. My only hope is that Ryan grows up knowing his dad was a hero, who proudly wore one of the most respected badges in the world.

Rest In Peace, Officer Diller. You, and your ultimate sacrifice, will never be forgotten. 💙
