In 2007, Valerie proudly joined Community Ambulance Company as a volunteer EMT. She then went back for more training and became a Critical Care EMT. In 2010, Valerie was awarded EMS Provider of the Year by the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) for her heroic actions during a local 911 emergency medical call. Each year, The Suffolk County News recognizes the volunteer work of outstanding local residents. These are folks who work diligently and passionately on community and charity work without fanfare. In 2010, Valerie was fortunate enough to win this award. She was both humbled and honored by the whole experience.
