Yesterday I spent the morning at my community garden pretending I know what I'm doing. I finished weeding and watering my vegetables garden and then went home to bake a batch of Kiwi Coconut Crumble Bars.

They were so good I knew I couldn't trust myself around them, so I packed up the whole pan! I'll be dropping them off to my Mom later today before I "accidentally" eat every last one.

This recipe is definitely a keeper.

One of the things I've been putting off for years was renting a garden plot through Capital Roots. Well, this was finally the year I decided to stop talking about it and do it.

This morning, I finished planting my tomatoes, collard greens, oregano, string beans, and cucumbers. Now comes the fun part, watching everything grow throughout the season.

I remember when I was younger, my great grandmother had a small garden in our backyard. She grew string beans, and I can still remember sitting on the porch with her snapping those beans before dinner. Later, she would cook them with potatoes, and they were some of the best meals I can remember.
Those are such simple memories, but they stayed with me all these years.

I'm looking forward to not only seeing what I can grow but also enjoying the vegetables I've grown myself. Hopefully, I'll have a few success stories to share by the end of the season!
