This is regarding West Texas, but pretty much applies to our area too. Never base a home sales price adjustment or repairs to a property on the word of a foundation company. In Texas,they are not required to be licensed, there is no mandatory education, testing, certification or anything! You can have a few companies go out and get different elevations and recommendations. I've seen investors use a foundation company bid to reduce a contract sales price so they can virtually walk away with 10s of thousands, then never "fix" the foundation. It's an old ploy but it's still around and works on inexperienced agents and home sellers. We have unusual soil, piering a foundation is not the end all answer and in my opinion it can make some homes worse off.
