Happy closing to my amazing clients making the move from Brooklyn to the South Shore! This charming Abington home, complete with a detached garage split between a workshop and a home gym, really piqued their interest. When inspection negotiations required some finesse, the sellers agent and I worked closely together to keep things moving and land everyone at the closing table HAPPY. That’s the goal every time. I just finished "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" by Jonathon Safran Foer. I've been doing this thing where when I hear people say things like "this was my favorite book of 2025" or "this was the best book I've ever read" & I go straight to the library and get it. I don't overthink it. This book was published in 2005 and is (mostly) narrated by a 10 year old boy who (maybe has Asperger's ?) and lost his dad in the World Trade Towers. He's trying to navigate grief and is searching for answers when he finds a random key in their apartment. He's convinced it's important, and goes on quest around NYC asking everyone he meets if they know anything about it. The people he meets have their own traumas and their own stories (or as the kids say "their Lore"). Even his grandparents have trauma from WWII that followed them for decades. I think the overall theme of the book is how different people experience loss. The topic is heavy but the author makes it so relatable, whether you've ever lost someone you've loved or not.
