From this week's blog:
Auld Lang Syne is apparently Scottish for “times long past.” The lyrics encourage us to “forget” old friends and old times but do it for “old time’s sake.” Hmmm. Of course, long past can be a year or ten years, or a lot more, depending on where we are in our life.
If I were writing a New Year’s song, it would not be anything about the past, it would only be on the future. I would write it from the point of view of a “possibilitarian.” It would stay very, very focused on all the good and GREAT things that can happen in this New Year. It would be a song about incredible people, who actively focus on the positive, who appreciate each other and who live their lives with positive intent. It would be about the opportunities we all have to “do better” and how we can help each other out. As needed.
Crazy, prom queen stuff? Maybe, but you know what, maybe everyone can benefit from a little wide-eyed optimism right now.
So, this isn’t a song, it’s just a wish, that at least today and hopefully in the upcoming year, you see the good things in your life before the bad. That you find a reason to smile. That you find a perfect 3 bed, 2 bath home and get a 3/2/1 buy down. That you are healthy, loved, and have something to do every day. Happy New Year!!
