Life’s a Beach…Enjoying Laguna Beach with Darlene Hagan. The Sawdust Art Festival is a cool venue with artists, bands, glass works demonstration and of course food and beverages! The local trolley was a convenient way to explore the beach shops and restaurants.

Day 5 – Kayaking Aialik Bay & Aialik Glacier, Alaska

More rain but we weren't about to miss a full day exploring Alaska by boat and kayak! We taxied 2.5 hrs from Seward around the southern peninsula of the Kenai Fjords to the beautiful Aialik Bay. Kayaking 7 miles through Aialik Bay to magnificent Aialik Glacier was rewarding for the effort. Being surrounded by towering blue ice and hearing the tremendous thunder of glacier calving as the glacier breaks away into the sea was something remarkable. It is a very active glacier.

We saw a humpback whale on the ride there, puffins and harbor seals in the Aialik Bay. The seals popping their heads up all around us...whatcha doin???

🐻Brooks Falls, Alaska - Day 3 Front Row Seat to One of Nature’s Greatest Spectacles! After 2.5 hrs of flying in two planes and a van transfer to Brooks Camp, we got to experience one of Alaska’s most incredible wildlife experiences! Every summer during salmon run, brown bears for generations migrate after hibernation to Brooks Falls. Normally solitary animals, they tolerate each other here because survival depends on it. They need to feast on 80-90 lbs of salmon per day to fatten up in this brief season for the winter. Just yards away, watching these magnificent bears fish was unforgettable experience and truly a bucket list adventure!

🚁❄️Helicopter, Hike, Swim, Alaska! Day 1 This wasn’t just sightseeing—it was one incredible adventure! Flying over Alaska’s spectacular Knik Glacier before landing on the ice felt surreal. Hiking through brilliant blue crevasses and ending with exhilarating glacier 33 degree “ lazy river” and swim made it a day I’ll never forget! Every second was worth it…especially sharing it with my son. 🩵
