How did a $5,300 mortgage get approved on $7,700 take-home? ⬇️

It shouldn't have. Somebody's agent and lender let it happen. A good one tells you no before you fall in love with the house.

Does a brand new house still need an inspection? ⬇️

Yes. This one was $1.4M and the shower leaked. The city checks code, not whether your tub jets work. Hire your own inspector on every house, new or not.

Grant says the bank and the state own it. Sure, if you don't pay them. You have to live somewhere, and I'd rather pay down my own mortgage than my landlord's.
