A birthday party like none other for a classic lady, Rhoda Coghlan' s 90th. With musicians flying in from around the country , each getting their turn at the microphone to serenade Rhoda and the crowd. I was honored to be able to play the 1907 classic Redwing , which is a bluegrass and fiddle standard. You'll also see Rhoda , zipping around dancing during the tune.
Claudia and I really enjoyed the event.And the first class music all day at her Scottsdale retreat. As you may remember, Rhoda' s late husband Buck was one of the greatest bass fiddle players in music, backing Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Glen Campbell , George Jones and a host of other A listers. Nice to see Susie, the fiddling flight attendant from American Airlines, who flew in from Nashville! That RV garage has become hallowed ground over the years.

Best hike so far! The four mile+ hike to the Balanced Rock in the Sonoran Mcdowell , Preserve , has got to be one of the most striking and beautiful. Claudia and I loved our trek to see this imposing granite monolith, on the top of a rocky knoll, perfect for a picnic. The site is almost spiritual in nature and is surrounded by 3 gigantic.alligator juniper pine trees. Trail departs from the granite mountain trailhead off one hundred thirty six street. Take plenty of water for this one. Sorry for so many of the same looking pictures.It's a kind of place that blows your mind when you're there.You can't stop taking pictures.But they all look the same! Check out one of the last picture posts which is a video and it shows the dramatic scenery on this trail.
