The best thing I've done for myself, and my business was joining the Carefree Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce. Not just joining but being an active participant in as much as possible.

When I first joined, I had a lot going on, who doesn't. My Mom was living with us and needing care for Alzheimer's. As a result, I wasn't as active as I am now.

After she passed, I really got involved! I became a Chamber Ambassador which turned out to great for me personally and professionally. It got me back out into Cave Creek and Carefree instead of staying home. My focus was on others and helping them, instead of being sad. I've met some amazing people who are members or other Ambassadors.
I've even made some friends at a time when that circle was getting smaller. I've learned so much more about my community and the people in it.

For me, Cave Creek and Carefree is my heart. I live here, I support others here, I can't imagine being elsewhere.

I bet that I would not get married again after my first marriage! The best part? I made that bet with my current (and last) husband Jeff!

We've been married over 23 years, soon to be 24! It was the best bet I ever lost! Thankfully, it turns out I do learn from past mistakes, and I picked very well for myself this time.

I love everything about this area! Some mornings, I leave my house and get to see people on horseback riding through the desert, who wouldn't find that enjoyable?

There is so much to do and see in our area. Artists galore! Just pop into The Finer Art Gallery to see their talents on display. From three-dimensional glass art to watercolor, we have some amazingly gifted people here. And, if you want to become one, or at least give it your best shot, take some classes at Sonoran Arts League, at Stagecoach Village! I take classes here as often as my schedule allows. I still haven't found my artistic calling yet...but I keep trying.

There is no such thing as bad food in Cave Creek either. I can't resist the potato wedges at Local Johnny's, the Southwestern Pasta at Harold's, or the Cauliflower Bites at Stumblina's Cantina. There is so much to choose from up here it will take several posts to cover them all! Oh, and for dessert, stop by City Creamery and try their Prickly Pear ice cream!!!

Need a little excitement? How about going to the Buffalo Chip on Friday's and watching the bull riding? Too much excitement? Try line dancing there during the week, it's free!

It's been a while since I watched the bull riding or line danced, but now I'm thinking about going. My favorite to watch was the mutton busting....

Owning a kitchen? Or maybe admitting I know how to cook?

Just kidding, I'm not exactly known for my cooking, I make do. It's probably one of my least favorite things to do. I enjoy baking periodically but not cooking. Some people say it's the most important part of the house. For me, it's the primary suite!

During my first marriage, I made a dish called "Garlic Chicken" which called for 10 cloves of garlic. I thought the entire bulb was a clove! Let's say I bought a bit too much garlic, but who doesn't love garlic?

Is there such a thing as too much garlic?

A compliment from a friend that I will always hold dear to me! We found a place she loved in an area that suited her so beautifully. This was a beautiful experience for both of us.

Typically, 9 out of every 10 people I work with either know me or have been referred to me by a mutual friend. Considering how goofy I can be sometimes; I consider that a huge compliment.

The people who know me, feel in their hearts that I will work hard for them and do what's best for them, not best of myself.

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love where I live! Cave Creek and Carefree as amazing from the people to the views and everything in between.

If I had to live somewhere else, I would definitely move to Scotland! I went with friends a couple of years ago and immediately fell in love! The history and the beauty just astound me. Everyone was so nice and I love to listen to their beautiful accents.

Now all I have to do is figure out where to live...either Edinburgh, Culross or one of the many fabulous places in the Highlands. And how do I raise sheep and highland cows, when starting in my 60-s with no training to date???

This photo was taken in one of my favorite places in Carefree, in the Portales section or the shops at the Sundial. The lighting of this gorgeous dome is muted by coverings added to protect it, but there are plans on the horizon. I've seen the posts and talked to friends about the changes happening in Carefree.

I admit to having mixed emotions on this. I love Local Finds AZ and don't want them displaced - they are my "go to" for my Chamber basket gifts! I hope they find an amazing location so I can continue being awed by their talents.

However, I am also excited about the thought of this gorgeous building being restored, especially this mosaic ceiling. The new owners have purchased this space and have what sounds like very interesting and unique plans for the space that I think I would visit fairly frequently.
