These texts from my wife hit hard. This is the reality of living with advanced stage heart failure.

Every sunrise is a blessing.

Every “I love you” actually means something.

Every minute together is cherished.

Every conversation is memorable.

Every day could be our last together.

Please don’t take this life for granted like I did.

My regrets are not the things that I’ve done in the past, but rather the things I won’t be able to do in the future.

Always smile, no matter the circumstance. Even when you have tubes sticking out of your chest lol.

3 close encounters with death over the past 2 years has taught me more about life, myself, and relationships than the prior 40+ years.

The small s**t doesn’t matter. Seriously.

Some people suck, and it’s ok to excuse them from your life.

Your energy is contagious (good or bad).

Keep your circle small. 5 Deep relationships vs. 50 shallow.

You’re going to die, do epic s**t while you can.

If you’re the smartest person in the room, find a new room. Quickly.

Be a role model for everyone around you. Yes, people are watching.

Teach your kids how to be amazing humans. It’s probably the largest impact you’ll have on this earth.

Be nice to people. You never know what they’ve been through.

Health truly is wealth.

Nobody remembers normal people.

Everything will be ok. And if it’s not - you’ll be too dead to care anyways.

For what?

Fear of judgement from others.
Fear of being misunderstood.
Fear of being called names.
Fear that people will look at you differently.

Burdened with perfection.
You needed the perfect time.
You needed the perfect place.
You needed the perfect conditions to start.

Scared.
Scared to reveal the real you.
Scared that you’ll make a mistake.
Scared that you can’t go back.
Scared you’ll fail in front of others.

Here’s the thing. None of it fu***ng matters.

At the end of the day you have to make that conscious decision to unleash the full unwavering potential inside you.

F**k the noise.

Yes, people will talk. Yes, people will judge. Yes, you’ll make mistakes on the way.

Guess what - the judgement NEVER comes from above. Always below.

Work in strength.
Work in silence.

I took out 2 walls, reconfigured the kitchen and master bath, even increased the door height to 96” to match the 10 foot ceilings. This is a true smart home with every automation available and integrated security system.

Rarely is there a bigger contrast in life…

So, here I am. 2 years later.

- 4 Heart Surgeries (one more to go)
Stage 2 Heart Failure
31% Ejection Fraction
3 leaky heart valves
Finished a Half-Marathon in 2:44:02

While the physical scars remain, my mind is healed. It sounds weird to say, but I’m thankful for everything. Thankful for the new prospective on life. Thankful for a second chance. Thankful to the many people that have supported me, especially my beautiful wife, my parents, my children, friends that stepped in and helped me in my worst days, and the literal team of doctors that saved my life. There’s never enough thanks.

When faced with a setback you have 2 options:

1). Give In
2). Go All-In

We only have 1 short life. Always take option #2
