Scottsdale buyers are getting pickier 👀 And some of the upgrades that used to scream “luxury” aren’t hitting the same anymore.

Here are 5 upgrades buyers are officially over:

1. All-gray everything — floors, walls, cabinets… buyers are craving warmth again.
2. Overly ornate finishes — heavy cabinetry, elaborate tile and excessive detailing can instantly date a home.
3. Open shelving instead of upper cabinets — beautiful in photos, not always practical for everyday living.
4. Ultra-open floor plans — buyers still love connection, but they’re wanting more defined, functional spaces.
5. Builder-grade “modern” finishes — the same black fixtures and basic white-and-gray palette everywhere no longer automatically reads as luxury.

The Scottsdale buyer is leaning toward warm, timeless, intentional design over whatever happens to be trending.
