Memories: Aug 2022 trip to Alaska and can’t believe how close we got to the bears at Anan Wildlife Observatory! 🐻🐟 Near Wrangell, this is one of Alaska’s premier bear-viewing areas where bears gather to feed during the massive summer salmon run July 5 through August 25th.

After arriving by boat and hiking through the Tongass National Forest, we watched bears fishing in the rushing creek below us. Seeing this brown bear grab a salmon right out of the water and eat it just a few feet away was absolutely incredible. Definitely one of my favorite memories from Alaska!

I was saddened to learn of the passing of architect Vernon Swaback on July 5, 2026. As one of the youngest apprentices of Frank Lloyd Wright, Vernon left a lasting mark on architecture. I represented the 2025 sale of SKYFIRE, the home he designed for himself. Spending time there gave me a deeper appreciation for his belief that architecture should exist in harmony with nature.
