RIP Dolly!
🕊️ In Loving Memory of Ms. Dolly Parton
We join millions around the world in mourning the passing of the incomparable Ms. Dolly Parton. A gifted storyteller, songwriter, actress, philanthropist, and beloved American icon.
Born in the mountains of Tennessee, Ms. Parton rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most celebrated voices in American music. A songwriter from childhood, she built a remarkable career defined not only by unforgettable songs and performances, but by generosity, humor, faith, and an unwavering commitment to giving back. Through her philanthropy, particularly her dedication to childhood literacy, she helped ensure that generations of young people could discover the transformative power of books.
Ms. Dolly Parton once named Dr. Maya Angelou as one of the people she would most love to have dinner with, imagining the wonderful stories Dr. Angelou could share and admiring the poetry of the way she spoke and wrote.
In so many ways, their journeys reflected a shared truth. Both women rose from challenging beginnings to become legendary American voices. Through different art forms, they transformed their experiences into stories that made people laugh, cry, hope, and believe in themselves.
Even their words seemed to speak to one another.
🌈 Dr. Angelou reminded us, “Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.”
And Ms. Parton reminded us, “If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.”
Two women. Two unmistakable voices. Two lives that showed us the extraordinary strength that can grow from humble beginnings, and the importance of using what we have been given to lift others.
We extend our deepest condolences to Ms. Dolly Parton's family, loved ones, friends, and the countless people whose lives were touched by her music, generosity, and joyful spirit.
May her songs continue to be sung, her stories continue to be told, and her generosity continue to inspire.
Rest peacefully, Ms. Dolly Parton. Your light will continue to shine. 🕊️🌈
