Stepping back in time on the Oregon Coast 📸✨
Before Hwy 101 hugged the cliffs above Cannon Beach, travelers actually drove on the beach around Hug Point to get from Tolovana to Arch Cape.
This photo shows the original “road,” carved into the rock—only passable at low tide. 🌊🚗 Imagine timing your trip just right so you didn’t get stranded!
The route was finally replaced in 1941 when the new highway over Neahkahnie Mountain opened, complete with the iconic Arch Cape Tunnel.
