Neighborhoods are always evolving, but one thing that continues to stand out about Seattle is that people want to be here.

Recent Census data shows the city's population continues to grow, reflecting what many of us experience every day in neighborhoods from Greenwood to Columbia City. More residents means continued demand for housing, local businesses, parks, transit, and community amenities.

Growth doesn't tell the whole story of a housing market, but it does provide helpful context. Seattle remains a place where people are building careers, raising families, and putting down roots for the long term.

Despite much reporting on a population exodus from Washington, Seattle had one of the largest population gains among U.S. cities in 2025.

Seattleites have always found creative ways to connect with the outdoors, whether it's a morning walk through Discovery Park, a paddle on Lake Union, or an afternoon spent in the garden. Now, we're seeing more homeowners bring wellness home with backyard saunas, cold plunges, and thoughtfully designed outdoor retreats.

What makes this trend interesting is that it's about more than luxury. Homeowners are looking for ways to create spaces that support everyday well-being while making better use of their outdoor square footage year-round. In a region that embraces both nature and self-care, it's easy to see why this idea is gaining traction.

It will transform how you use your garden

Here's our take: One of the best parts of living in Seattle is that you can plan an entire day around where to eat, and the Chinatown-International District (C-ID) makes that very easy to do. 👏

As self-proclaimed foodies, we always love seeing this neighborhood celebrated for what it does so well: layers of history, culture, family-run favorites, quick counter-service gems, and restaurants that make a simple lunch feel like a small adventure.

A few C-ID spots worth keeping on your radar right now:

▪️ Jade Garden for classic dim sum, dumplings, buns, and honey walnut prawns
▪️ Hong Kong Bistro for made-to-order dim sum and late-night cravings
▪️ King Noodle or Mike’s Noodle House when only a steaming bowl of noodles will do
▪️ Kau Kau BBQ for longstanding Chinese barbecue and roasted meats
▪️ Fuji Bakery for Japanese pastries, curry buns, and sweet treats
▪️ Hood Famous for ube cheesecake, calamansi drinks, and Filipino cafe staples
▪️ Maneki and Onibaba for Japanese comfort, history, and thoughtful bites
▪️ Pho Bac Súp Shop and The Boat for Seattle pho legacy and Vietnamese favorites
▪️ Phnom Penh Noodle House for Cambodian noodles with deep local roots
▪️ Kilig for Filipino comfort food, bulalo, lumpia, and creative drinks

From dim sum before a stadium event to noodles, hot pot, pastries, pho, banh mi, and Filipino comfort food, the C-ID remains one of Seattle’s most flavorful neighborhoods and one of the best reminders that local dining is also local storytelling.

The world is coming to Seattle this summer, and whether you’re a lifelong soccer fan or simply planning around one of the city’s biggest event seasons, the 2026 FIFA World Cup is going to be a major moment for our region.

Seattle will host six matches from June 15 through July 6 at Lumen Field, which will temporarily be known as Seattle Stadium during the tournament. Expect the energy to stretch well beyond the stadium, with free Fan Celebrations, cultural events, watch parties, and plenty of visitors moving through downtown, S**o, Pioneer Square, Seattle Center, and the waterfront.

A few things to know:

▪️ Seattle hosts its first-ever World Cup match on June 15: Belgium vs. Egypt
▪️ Team USA plays Australia in Seattle on June 19
▪️ Additional matches include Bosnia & Herzegovina vs. Qatar, Egypt vs. Iran, plus Round of 32 and Round of 16 games
▪️ Free Fan Celebrations are planned at Seattle Center, Waterfront Park, Pacific Place, and Victory Hall in S**O
▪️ Tacoma will also host Puyallup Tribe events, including Coastal Protocol, a World Cup Powwow, and a stickgame tournament
▪️ This is the first World Cup with 48 teams, making it the largest tournament to date
▪️ Game days are expected to bring major traffic, transit, parking, and neighborhood impacts, especially around Pioneer Square, S**o, downtown, and light rail stations

For Seattle area residents, this is one of those rare civic moments where sports, culture, tourism, and local pride all meet in real time. It’s also a good reminder to plan ahead, use public transit where possible, check route and road closure updates, and give yourself extra time if you’ll be near downtown on match days.

From our soccer-loving neighborhoods to our waterfront gathering places, Seattle is getting ready to welcome the world. It’s going to be pretty incredible to watch.

What happened in the first quarter of the year can tell us a lot about where Seattle’s housing market may be headed next, and that’s why this data matters. Q1 often sets the tone for the spring and summer market, helping buyers and sellers understand momentum, inventory, pricing trends, and how competitive conditions may feel in the months ahead.

RSIR's new Q1-2026 report shows Seattle single-family homes had a 29.09% year-over-year increase in homes for sale, giving buyers more options than this time last year. King County single-family homes also saw inventory rise 41.39%, offering some welcome breathing room in a market that has long felt tight. Meanwhile, Seattle condo sales were down 12.61%, creating a different set of opportunities for buyers exploring that segment.

Whether you're thinking about buying, selling, or simply staying informed, understanding the numbers can help you make smarter decisions. If you'd like help interpreting what this means for your neighborhood or goals, we’d be happy to share a local perspective.

Seattle’s spring market feels a little different this year, and many people are asking what that means for their next move.
