🎄How We Divas Do December! 🎁

We started December watching birth a chicken baby and ended it watching birth a Santa baby. Now that’s the way to spend the Holidays. (And there was other awesome stuff that happened along the way!)

🐕 Xoloitzcuintle - Human's best friend to the end and beyond.

Being in Mexico City and Oaxaca during Dia de los Mu***os I’ve become a little obsessed with these colorful representations of the Xoloitzcuintle, the Mexican hairless dog.

These dogs were revered by the Aztecs and the Mayans since they were believed to be guides to the underworld. Apparently, when a human passed away- they would sacrifice a Xolo so when the dead was ready to pass into the underworld the Xolo would meet them to guide them across. Although I love the idea of my dog guiding me to the great beyond - the sacrificing part is a bit rough. 😳

During Dia de Los Mu***os these beautiful colorful images of Xoloitzcuintle can be found all over Mexico City and Oaxaca.

Oh and the last image is NOT a Xolo. Just a cute Chihuahua we met at our cooking class. 😏

🏵 Dead of the Dead with Frida 🌼

With all the bustle from Genuine Hustle we never booked our tickets for Casa Azul. But thanks to - we were able to get in today! And what a beautiful and moving experience.

Casa Azul is the home where Frida Kahlo grew up and lived with her family and eventually with her husband Diego Rivera. This place really feels like a sanctuary and is a space full of beauty and joy. It was so emotional to see how joyful a space can feel even though Frida’s life was wrought with pain and trauma. What a spirit of resilience. And being here during Dia de los Mu***os it felt like her spirit was even more present as we toured her home and gardens.

Maybe this is super nerdy but walking the same garden paths walks by both Frida and Diego, and also by Frida’s lover Leon Trotsky gave me chills. I’ve always been a Frida fan but I learned so much more about her life and art on this tour. Worth paying the extra bucks for this private guided tour. And our guide Isaak was amazing. So engaged, passionate and knowledgeable. 100% recommend coming here when you are in Mexico City!

🐶Well - this happened yesterday! 🦴

One little innocent stroll to the Seattle Animal Shelter and it was all over. Meet the newest member of our Diva Household - Stella!

BTW - The folks at the were awesome. We went to see another dog but he was taken already. They were so sweet and helpful and super excited we decided to adopt Bonnie - now Stella. Sadly, most of the dogs being adopted were small. So many Pitties that need home. I just wanted to take them all!

Stella is also a little Pittie mix. No idea what the mix might be - maybe some Whippet, cause this cutie is a jumper!! She loves her new home, her couch cuddles, and her lamb chop stuffie (which is now unstuffed!).

Stella and Daisy are still feeling things out but I’m sure they will get into a grove. And Juju, well, is just fu***ng pi**ed. 😂 Not having any of Stella’s sniff attempts. Hopefully they will come to a truce soon.

She’s already met Emily and a few other pals. She’s an energetic thing and will keep us Divas on our toes. It’s been a while since we have had a high energy pooch. But you know our life is so chill and boring, now that Ash is in college, we really needed to spice it up a bit. 😏

Stella is a super sweet and social pooch. She will be so excited to meet you all and give you big sloppy pittie pooch kisses! So come say hi soon.

🎉 Finally celebrating with this crazy crew! 🎉

Never a dull moment with this badass pack of Diva Dwellers!! So glad we finally got to celebrate new Seattle home, meet her rad kiddos, and give a big Thank You to Kitsy and for sending their awesome family in our direction.

BTW it has been a while since I’ve been to and it did not disappoint! Every dish was delish but hands down the Halibut and the Steak were the stars of the night. The service was excellent. The roof deck atmosphere is alway inviting. And dining outside with the cool Summer rain while being warm and dry and well fed - just added some Seattle magic to an already fab evening. Thanks all!!

🌅 Sunset on the Med!

Chavi and I first met our exchange student Giovanni in 2009. We chatted then about the Island of Sardegna where he is from and how beautiful it is. We always said we would come here one day. No idea why it has taken 16 years to finally get here. But here we are.

So far Alghero is stunning. I feel so blessed to be here watching this gorgeous Mediterranean sunset with my gorgeous gal Chavi. Summer in the Mediterranean is beyond magical. ☀️
