“This is still a better summary than I tend to give on the spot. I have been enjoying living in cohousing (aka "in community") for over 5 years now. Right now I am feeling so grateful for my neighbors.

We have had a few spontaneous "social distance boozy time gatherings" all sitting around outside chatting 6 ft from each other. We have neighbors who sing and play music outside together every night at 6pm. Every day we have people shopping for others. Sharing resources, time, and energy is a daily norm.

I love it.”

“I live in a co-housing community and whenever people ask what that means, I NEVER give as great of an explanation as this:
“Cohousing is a type of collaborative housing in which residents actively participate in the design and operation of their own neighborhoods. Residents are consciously committed to living as a community. The physical design encourages both social contact and individual space. Private homes contain all the features of conventional homes, but residents also have access to extensive common facilities such as open space, courtyards, a playground and a common house.” You can read more here http://www.cohousing.org/.”
