At the Walla Walla Foundry, one of the largest contemporary fine-art foundries in the world, all sorts of artistic behemoths rise. Yet it’s little-known outside of the art world.

Grateful to work with Gina Mares Kurtz of Seven Star Women's Kung Fu School on Capitol Hill again. I arranged another loan for its building this year. This is a remarkable group that brings skills that help women feel safer. sevenstarwomenskungfu.org

After 31 years in the commercial mortgage business, friendships are still the most gratifying and effective way for me to do business. Mohammed Ali got it right...

Technology has made cultivating relationships easier, but also shallower.

"Sally found me a 90% construction/permanent loan for a new-construction apartment building in Columbia City. She brought me several competitive loans - I requested 90% in order to not have to take a partner. I could not have found that loan without her. I paid a finder's fee to Sally which was much smaller than the value created by not having to share ownership with a partner.

And the process has been delightful! She has taught me so much and has been my friend through the courtship, the paperwork, and the construction draws. I now love both her and the lender she found, who has been gracious, honest, chill, and fair. We are not finished yet! But I would have had a much different project without her. Highly recommend! Sally is a great person!"

TomKat Ranch last weekend! Enjoyed touring the sustainable ranch that Kat Taylor and Tom Steyer created in Pescadero, Ca. How nice to see the good the founders of Beneficial State Bank are perpetuating. Inspiring trip and returned to the Northwest with
a saddlebag full of Leftcoast
Grassfed steaks.
