Hello World - Yesterday was a sad day in the McBarron/MacKenzie family. We lost our dear Stephanie at around 2:30pm, Friday afternoon, February 27th, 2026. She was 87 years old.
This is one of my most favorite photos of us from about 10 years ago. It perfectly expresses her essence.
She had lived with COPD and Congestive Heart Failure for several years. This past week she felt quite weak and was finally ready to say goodbye. She was at home, surrounded by her kids and grandkids.
It’s a bittersweet goodbye. Sweet that she doesn’t have to suffer anymore. But bittersweet for those of us who remain.
Stephanie was my stepmother for over 45 years. She never wanted to take the place of my mom. She just wanted to be a friend and the one who could love me unconditionally, and tame my crazy, wonderful, complicated father.
Steph - you will be missed, but not forgotten.
A Catholic funeral and burial will be scheduled likely sometime in late March. Feel free to dm me for details.
