Thought to be one of his most famous efforts, Carolina Court was commissioned and owned by prominent Seattle businessman Claude C. Creutzer in the Beaux Arts-Neoclassical style. Completed in 1915, the building and its courtyard garden nestled in a larger park, with tennis courts and playground. Ahead of its time, it incorporated all the "best of" in regard to what apartment buildings across the na

tion and abroad provided: private telephones, large bathrooms, gas ranges and cooling chests, an internal vacuum system, steam heat, gas and electric lights. In fact, it is thought to have inspired later apartment design in the City of Seattle.
