What an incredible day for the 12th Annual VOC Community BBQ! This year’s event was the most-attended BBQ in our history(350 -400 attendees), and we couldn't have done it without the generosity, energy, and community spirit of so many people.
First and foremost, thank you to everyone who came out and spent the afternoon with us! Seeing VOCA Park filled with families, friends, longtime neighbors, and new faces is exactly why Damian, Danielle, and Andrew continue to organize this event year after year. You made this one truly memorable.
And the appetite matched the turnout! This year we went through an amazing amount of food: "90 pounds of BBQ pork and chicken, 45 pounds of coleslaw, 20 bags of chips, 500 hot dogs, and 40 watermelons!" That gives you an idea of just how many neighbors came out to celebrate with us.

A very special thank-you goes to Yavapai Title Agency for sponsoring Sugar Moon, who gave us an awesome afternoon of live music. And thank you to Sugar Moon not only for a fantastic set, but also for Gioia’s terrific work as our MC throughout the afternoon.
And then there was the ice cream! Rocky RD Ice Cream gave away an incredible 665 scoops of free ice cream — a retail value of $3,375! That included their special Javelina Tracks, made especially for the BBQ and available only once a year. The community cannot thank you enough, Rocky RDIce Rocky RD Ice Cream, for such an extraordinary contribution!!
Another big thank-you to Clark’s Market for continuing to be such a great neighbor to this event. Clark's Markets provides the BBQ food to us organizers at a generous discount every year, which makes a huge difference. And Store Manager Kevin Frye went above and beyond by getting into the dunk tank himself, dressed in pinstripes!
Speaking of the dunk tank, thank you to everyone who volunteered to get soaked and make our brand-new attraction such a hit: Paul Cummo of Rocky RD Ice Cream, Leslie Osbourn of SNAP Fitness, Laura Malone of the Village of Oak Creek Association (VOCA), Paul Bowles of Arizona North Tree Service, Anthony Selna of Yavapai Title Agency, along with our organizers and other participants. You brought a lot of laughs to the afternoon!
Thank you to the VOCA Pickleball Group for once again joining us and hosting pickleball games and demonstrations, and to new sponsor Village Clinic Sedona for bringing co****le games to the BBQ.
We were also thrilled to have so many community and nonprofit organizations join us and share what they do: American Red Cross, Rotary Club of Sedona Village, Volunteer Sedona, Humane Society of Sedona, Sedona Fire District, and others who helped make the day about much more than just food and entertainment. Thank you as well to the Verde Valley Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club for joining us with games and raffles.
Most of all, thank you to the Village of Oak Creek community! You showed up in record numbers, supported our local organizations and businesses, laughed, played, ate, danced, got dunked, and reminded us why this event means so much to us.
