🥩 **Seguin just raised the steaks.**

Pete Aguirre and Jacob Kozlowski, the local entrepreneurs behind 1908, have officially opened The Blackdoor Steakhouse in downtown Seguin.

We love seeing local business owners invest in our community and create another great experience for both locals and visitors. Seguin has always had plenty of character. Well, look who made the list. 👀

After eating **51 smoked chickens across Texas**, the writer at Texas Monthly named Schulze’s Pit Room as the favorite.

That does not surprise us one bit.

We love sending CTXBNB guests to locally owned places that give them a real taste of Central Texas, and Schulze’s is one of those spots. Great barbecue, good people, and now apparently some of the best smoked chicken in the entire state.

Knowing how difficult it is to get it just right, our barbecue editor made it his mission this year to find the best half chickens—a bird split right down the middle or served as a breast and a leg—in Texas. The variety of preparations at different barbecue joints is surprising: Some chickens are smoked on offsets, others are cooked directly over coals, and a few are finished in a deep fryer.

"I can’t say that I’ve eaten every smoked chicken in the state, but I’ve eaten 51 different ones since January," writes Daniel Vaughn.
