So we hunkered down in our home (it proved to be like a bunker during Ian ). Flooding was a concern but we are 15β above sea level and they were anticipating a total rainfall of only 5β- 8β. I was staying positive on the flooding aspect but prepared none the less.
Tampa got slammed with 9β of rain an hour π’ flooding in areas that were not evacuated.
We were beyond fortunate as it appeared Venice was in line for a direct hit. The southern wall of the eye where we ended up was more forgiving than the north. The intense sound like a train seemed to go on for hours, we didnβt sleep until it passed at around 4am.
Our power and cell service was restored late yesterday afternoon and today the sun is shining.
I am once again thankful for all the neighbors and friends that bonded together to be there for each other as we went through this devastating storm.
Thank you to all for the texts and messages checking in on us. β€οΈ Please continue to support and pray for those that did not fare as well as we did. So many lives lost and families that have been affected by these back to back hurricanes. π’π
