Sitting in God’s Waiting Room
Is there an emptiness in your life? Is there an utter lack of fulfillment? Are you finding that no amount of money, riches, and success will fill that abiding emptiness?
If you feel that way, know that I’ve been in that spot before too. And I know many people who are uncomfortably residing in that space today.
If that’s you, find comfort in the story here. When I read it the first time, it made a significant impression on me. It’s from an article that appeared in a 1982 edition of Reader’s Digest. It was about an advertising executive and despite her successful career, she felt an emptiness in her life.
“One morning, during a breakfast meeting with her marketing consultant, she mentioned that emptiness. “Do you want to fill it?” her colleague asked. “Of course I do,” she said. He looked at her and replied, “Then start each day with an hour of prayer.” She looked at him and said, “Don, you’ve got to be kidding. If I tried that, I’d go off my rocker.”
Her friend smiled and said, “That’s exactly what I said 20 years ago.” Then he said something else that really made her think. He said “You’re trying to fit God into your life. Instead, you should be trying to make your life revolve around God.” The woman left the restaurant in turmoil. Begin each morning with prayer? Begin each morning with an hour of prayer? Absolutely out of the question! Yet, the next morning she found herself doing exactly that. And she’s been doing it ever since. The woman is the first to admit that it has not always been easy. There have been mornings when she was filled with great peace and joy. But there have been other mornings when she was filled with nothing but weariness. And it was on these weary mornings that she remembered something else that her marketing consultant said. ‘There will be times when your mind just won’t go into God’s sanctuary. That’s when you spend your hour in God’s waiting room. Still, you’re there, and God appreciates your struggle to stay there.’”
If you are unfulfilled and find the emptiness inside you cannot be filled with anything else, I think you’ll find that an hour of prayer is a powerful antidote.

This is needed today:

Fear and Faith Don’t Mix
The stock market fell… We lost our AAA Status… Unemployment is shocking… Our country is in debt… I could go on and on, but it wouldn’t do anyone any good if I did. In fact, it would do more harm.
Yet, that’s exactly what the media is doing every day. You turn on the T.V. and it’s like a horror reel that repeats over and over again. However, you can’t feel God if all you feel is fear. Fear is a very invasive and pervasive emotion. You can’t think straight, you’re immobilized from any decisive action, and you’re missing all the joys in life. You basically fear yourself to death.
Remember, God has not given us the spirit of fear, but the spirit of power, courage, and resolution to meet difficulties and dangers.
How do I know this? I need look no further than the Bible and God’s own word…
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” – John:14-27
“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline.” – 2 Timothy 1:7
“For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.'” – Romans 8:15
Note that in the scriptures above, fear is a choice. On the other hand, God promises that if you turn away from fear, He will bless you with power, love, and peace. You will, in effect, ultimately conquer the difficulties behind the fear. WOW!
So, if you find yourself glued to the television, wringing your hands with fear, turn it off. Do not take what the world gives you, but what God gives you. I guarantee it’s much more fulfilling and worthwhile!

Are You Too Comfortable?
I asked for Strength………
And God gave me Difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for Wisdom………
And God gave me Problems to solve.
I asked for Prosperity………
And God gave me Brain and Brawn to work.
I asked for Courage………
And God gave me Danger to overcome.
I asked for Love………
And God gave me Troubled people to help.
I asked for Favors………
And God gave me Opportunities.
I received nothing I wanted ……..
I received everything I needed!

Have you ever noticed that your comfort level is a direct
reflection of your personal growth? When things seem to be
going smoothly, you’re growing less and stagnating more.
On the flip side of this, it’s only when you’re experiencing
difficulties that survival mode kicks in, your creativity is
whetted and honed, and you become determined to succeed.
It’s this discomfort that allows you to become better than you
are today.
I encourage you to embrace that discomfort and learn from it.

Commitment or Resolution?
So many of us—some estimates say more than 40% of
Americans—make New Year’s resolutions. But for all the good
intentions, only a tiny fraction of us actually keep our
resolutions. In fact, University of Scranton research suggests
that just 8% of people achieve their New Year’s resolutions.
Being in marketing, I’m a big believer in the importance of
language. How you say something and how much detail you
attach to it, makes all the difference between a baseless wish,
like a resolution, and a commitment. A commitment is a
promise with steps. Setting ambitious resolutions often means
your elation will quickly give way to frustration. That’s why you
need rational, achievable metrics when setting your yearly goals.
Note, I said ‘goals,’ not ‘resolutions.’
So, what does this have to do with spirituality?
Everything really.
Each year we need to commit to a renewed attitude, gratitude,
compassion, and leadership in our Christian faith. God has
asked us to be his megaphone to the world, and each year we
have a new opportunity to do so.
Each year we can renew our focus on prayer and the ministry
of the Word to others. Each year we can work harder to allow
our character, our words, and our works to be God-Powered,
rather than human-powered. Each year, we have the choice to
live a more Christian-Centered life. So, I encourage you to
commit to God today, hand your life over to Him, and allow
him to make good use of you today, tomorrow and the rest of
this year.

Reflecting on God’s Faithfulness
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning;
great is Your faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:22-23

As the Christmas season fades into memories and we stand on the brink of a new year, it’s an opportune time to reflect on God’s faithfulness. In Lamentations, the writer acknowledges that despite challenges and hardships, the Lord’s love is unwavering, and His compassions are endless. Each morning, we are greeted with the promise of new mercies.
As we step into the days before the New Year, take a moment to ponder the faithfulness of God in your life. Consider the moments of joy, the challenges overcome, and the strength provided. In the midst of a changing world, God’s faithfulness remains a constant anchor.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for your great love and unfailing compassion. As we look back on the year that has passed, we see your hand at work in every season of our lives. Your faithfulness, O Lord, has sustained us, and we are grateful. As we approach the New Year, help us carry the assurance of your faithfulness into the days ahead. May we trust in your mercies that are new every morning. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
As you reflect on God’s faithfulness, may you find renewed strength and determination to press on toward the goals and purposes He has set before you. May the coming year be marked by a deep awareness of His presence and a growing trust in His unfailing love.

I Am With You Always
Regardless of our circumstances, God is blessing us. This may
seem contrary, especially if your circumstances are trying, your
health is compromised, or your finances are burdensome. It’s
hard to see any silver lining when the storm clouds are so
ominous. Plainly put, it’s hard to feel joy when we feel so low.
But remember, God doesn’t ask something of us He has never
endured before.
Jesus traveled from the highest place to the lowest place on
purpose. He left the praises of angels to face the scorn of men.
He left the happiness of heaven to experience the horror of
Gethsemane. He left the right hand of his Father to endure the
cross. It’s hard to grasp why anyone would leave such comfort
for such torment. Would you? I have a difficult time leaving
the snug, warmness of my bed each morning; I can’t imagine
having to willingly leave the glories of Heaven for the sorrows
of Earth.
He did it because He wanted us to know that what we are
experiencing right now, He has done before us, and He knows
the weariness and sorrow we may be experiencing right now.
He has walked in our shoes. Because of this, He can plumb the
depths of our pain and comfort and lift us from our low place.
God is doing great things for us now, but He is also promising
to lift us up and deliver us from this world altogether. He gives
us blessings now, to ultimately allow us the greatest mercy and
gift of all later—eternal life with Him. He’s with us now so we
can be with Him later.
So, as we celebrate His birth, Remember this: God is with you
always.

The Light of Christmas
“In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:4-5
As we approach Christmas, our hearts are filled with anticipation and joy. Christmas is a celebration of the greatest gift humanity has ever received–the birth of Jesus Christ. In the midst of the twinkling lights, festive decorations, and the warmth of family gatherings, let us take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.
The Bible tells us in the Gospel of John that Jesus is the light of the world. Jesus brought life and light into the darkness of our lives. His birth represents the dawn of a new era, a divine light breaking through the spiritual darkness that shrouds the world.
Christmas is a season of hope, symbolized by the radiant glow of lights illuminating the darkest winter nights. In the same way, Jesus brings hope into our lives. He is the source of eternal hope that transcends our circumstances and challenges. As we celebrate Christmas, let us not only revel in the festivities but also bask in the light of Christ’s love and hope.
“The very purpose of Christ’s coming into the world was that He might offer up His life as a sacrifice for the sins of men. He came to die. This is the heart of Christmas.” –Billy Graham
Billy Graham, a renowned evangelist, reminds us that the heart of Christmas lies in the sacrificial love of Jesus. The baby born in Bethlehem was destined to become the Savior of the world, offering Himself as a sacrifice for our sins. This is a profound truth that should shape our Christmas celebrations. As we exchange gifts and share in the joy of the season, let us also remember the ultimate gift–the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.
This Christmas, let the light of Christ shine brightly in your heart. May His love, grace, and hope illuminate your life and the lives of those around you. As you gather with loved ones, take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and rejoice in the profound gift of Jesus–the light that dispels the darkness.

I hope everyone had a blessed Christmas and a great weekend. We are still working to close loans and fund projects. If you are in need of funding please contact me. Closing before the end of the year may be difficult as a lot of underwriters are off until after the new year. But that does not mean we can not start the process and get everything ready to go. We are also still looking for properties to purchase and are actively investing. We hope to do at least 20 flips in 2022 at the minimum and would love to fund 200 loans this year.
