UNBELIEVABLE ELECTION AT Traditions of America AT SEWICKLEY RIDGE
An election to replace two Home Owners Association Board Members was held tonight at Traditions of America at Sewickley Ridge in Sewickley, PA.
Three women and one man were on the slate. In order to run, they were required to obtain the signatures of 10 other residents, submit a bio detailing their background and qualifications, and do a five minute oral presentation followed by questions from residents.
We met last night to vote on these candidates and minutes before our ballots were cast, a current Board member accepted an impromptu nomination from the floor for a man who had not completed any of the requirements for running for office.
When I questioned him about this—stating that this was not fair to the other candidates and that we did not know this individual’s position on the issues—he said that such a nomination was permitted by our bylaws.
This man and the other man who was running won the election hands down, effectively preventing three competent women from serving on this Board.
Since there is a policy of one household, one vote, I wonder if the women in the community had a voice in this election.
It is also interesting that the men’s lunch group met the day before the vote.
This is literally unbelievable.
