The Ft. Vallonia Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution invites the community to join them on September 11 as they honor our local first responders and remember the lives forever changed by the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

🔔 September 11 Remembrance Ceremony
⏰ 9:37 a.m.
📍 Steps of the Seymour Museum Center

All county first responders are welcome and will be recognized during the ceremony.

Throughout the morning, the Seymour Museum Center and other organizations with bell systems in Seymour will toll their bells at the times marking each of the four attacks:

🔔 8:46 a.m. — American Airlines Flight 11 struck the World Trade Center’s North Tower.
🔔 9:03 a.m. — United Airlines Flight 175 struck the South Tower.
🔔 9:37 a.m. — American Airlines Flight 77 struck the Pentagon. The ceremony will begin with this bell toll.
🔔 10:03 a.m. — United Airlines Flight 93 crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers and crew fought back against the hijackers.

The ceremony will include a welcome from Ft. Vallonia Regent Skye Zakrzewski and a remembrance from Seymour DAR member Rose Miller and her husband, Joe, who were in Washington, D.C., at the time of the Pentagon attack.

Local first responders will be thanked and recognized for their service, and Gary Dyer will close the ceremony with prayer just before the final bell tolls.

🚒 FIRST RESPONDER PARKING: Third Street from the railroad tracks west to Chestnut Street will be closed to regular traffic and available for emergency vehicles to park.

Please join us as we remember those we lost, honor those who answered the call and recognize the first responders who continue to serve our communities today.
