One year ago today, I officially retired from the United States Air Force after 24 years of service.
Like most career military members, I wasn’t exactly sure what life after retirement would look like. What I did know was that I wanted more time with my family, an opportunity to serve my community in a different way, and the flexibility to be present for the moments that matter most.
Looking back, this first year has exceeded every expectation.
Professionally, I’ve been blessed to build a successful real estate business here in Northwest Florida. I’ve had the opportunity to help military families PCS into the area, assist first-time homebuyers, guide sellers through major life transitions, and earn the trust of some incredible clients. Every closing has been a reminder that serving people doesn’t end when you take the uniform off—it just takes a different form.
The biggest blessings, however, have happened away from the office.
This year included a family cruise to Mexico, another memorable Christmas trip to Salt Lake City, and the privilege of celebrating alongside dear friends at their wedding in Jamaica. Those trips created memories that simply wouldn’t have been possible for much of my military career.
Closer to home, I’ve been able to do something I never take for granted: being there. Taking Eli to school. Picking him up after practice. Attending events without wondering if a deployment, TDY, exercise, or late meeting was going to get in the way. Those everyday moments have become some of my favorite parts of retirement.
As grateful as I am for this past year, I’m equally excited about what’s ahead.
I’m honored to announce that I’ve been selected as the Head Freshman Football Coach at Niceville High School. Football has always played a significant role in my life, and I look forward to investing in the next generation of young men while representing a program and community that mean so much to my family.
One year down. A lifetime of opportunities ahead.
Thank you to everyone who has supported our family during this transition. We couldn’t have done it without you.
