Some meals aren't about speed. They're about slowing down, filling the house with incredible aromas, and gathering around the table with the people who matter most.

This week on Sold on Flavor, I went back to the classics with a traditional homemade lasagna. The foundation is a rich meat sauce made with sweet and hot Italian sausage, ground beef, oven-roasted peppers, onions, garlic, a splash of wine, and tomato sauce simmered together until everything comes together just right.

Of course, lasagna deserves a worthy sidekick. For the garlic bread, I sautéed fresh garlic cloves until soft and mellow, then blended them into a smooth puree before spreading it over the bread and baking it to golden perfection.

There's something special about recipes like this. They take a little more time, a little more patience, and a little more love. The reward is a meal that feels like home from the very first bite.

I have been going to Doug’s seafood for shrimp and crab for months now and their seafood is amazing! They have a location in OIB and Shallotte on Main Street by Walmart. Great prices too! What’s your favorite seafood place?

The Ocean Isle Beach Sea Turtle Protection Organization is looking for volunteers to help collect donations at the OIB concert June 12th as well as other volunteer opportunities. There are now 4 nests on Ocean Isle Beach being protected by this amazing organization.
