🏡September is REALTOR SAFETY month so remember. Your safety should always come first whether you’re meeting a new client, showing a property, or hosting an open house.

⚠️A few simple precautions can make a big difference:

🏡Let someone know your schedule and where you’ll be.

🏡Use a buddy system for vacant properties or unfamiliar areas.

🏡Keep your phone charged and easily accessible.

🏡Trust your instincts. If something doesn’t feel right, leave.

🏡Avoid sharing too much personal information with clients or strangers.

🏡Stay alert during showings and keep an eye on entrances and exits.

🏡Have a check-in plan with a coworker, friend, or family member.

🏡Park where you can easily leave. Never park somewhere you could be blocked in.

🏡Keep the client or tenant in front of you whenever possible, especially when entering unfamiliar areas of a property.

🏡Avoid showing properties after dark whenever possible.

🏡Never ride in a vehicle with clients. Use your own transportation.

🏡Know your office's distress code or emergency procedure. Does your office have one? Make sure you know how to use it.

🏡If you find yourself in a dangerous situation, prioritize getting away. Run if you can. If you cannot safely escape, protect yourself!

🚨Call 911 when you are in immediate danger or need emergency assistance.

💙Remember: No showing, sale, or appointment is worth compromising your safety.

🏡Stay aware. Stay connected. Stay safe.

Looking back over the past five years, it’s amazing to see just how much can happen when a group of dedicated professionals come together with a shared commitment to their members, their industry, and their community.
There have been changes, challenges, milestones, celebrations, new faces, countless events, educational opportunities, community involvement, and so many memories along the way. Through it all, one thing has remained constant. The heart that comes from SBOR members, volunteers, leaders, and the people who continue to give their time and talents to make the association better.
These pictures are just a small snapshot of the past five years, but they represent so much more: friendships, teamwork, growth, laughter, service, and a whole lot of memories. The best is yet to come 💙

As part of REALTOR® Volunteer Week, members of the Shawnee Board of REALTORS® had the privilege of partnering with NewHope Bed Ministries to help build beds for children right here in Pottawatomie County.
Every child deserves a safe, comfortable place to sleep, and we are grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside a ministry that is making such a meaningful impact in the lives of local families.
