Over 1 MILLION Americans have died from overdoses over time.

Read that again.

1 million.

And yet most people still don’t understand the real issue:

The crisis has shifted from prescriptions to street drugs.
Fentanyl is everywhere.
And people leaving treatment have nowhere stable to go.

That’s why relapse happens.

That’s why the cycle continues.

And that’s exactly where the biggest impact can be made.

There are tens of thousands of people trying to get sober right now.

And not enough beds for them.

Meanwhile:

• 75%+ of overdose deaths involve opioids (mostly fentanyl)
• Stimulant deaths (m**h, co***ne) are exploding
• Most overdoses now involve multiple substances

This is no longer a small niche problem.

This is a nationwide demand problem.

And the biggest bottleneck?

Housing.

Behind every number is:

A son.
A daughter.
A parent.
A life that could’ve been saved.

And one of the biggest missing pieces isn’t treatment…

It’s what happens AFTER.

People need a place to land.

A place to rebuild.

A place to stay clean.

Here’s the truth:

Overdose deaths have dropped recently…
…but we’re STILL losing 70,000+ people per year.

And it’s not just opioids anymore.

Fentanyl, m**h, co***ne…
Most overdoses now involve multiple drugs.

This problem didn’t go away.

It evolved.

And the system is still short on one thing:

Quality recovery housing.

That’s nearly 200 people… every single day.

Yes—numbers are slightly improving.

But this is still one of the deadliest public health crises in the country.

And here’s the part nobody talks about:

It’s not a lack of people wanting help…
It’s a lack of safe, structured places for them to go after treatment.

That’s the gap.

🎤 What a Day at the First Shelton Housing First Fundraiser! 🎤

Well… we survived our first SHF fundraiser and what a blast it was.

Thank you High Steel for letting us take over the front room.

We had karaoke, some surprisingly good singers, a few very brave singers, a silent auction, great conversations, and a whole lot of people showing up to support som**hing bigger than all of us. ❤️

There were moments where people absolutely crushed their songs… and a few moments where we probably should’ve charged extra to make them stop singing. 😆 But that’s all part of the fun.

Most importantly, because of this amazing community, we raised money that will go directly toward:
🏠 Housing scholarships
🔧 Trade and skill training opportunities
❤️ Helping people rebuild their lives

For our very first event, the turnout and support meant the world to us. Shelton continues to prove that when people need help, this community shows up.

Huge thank you to everyone who:
• came out and supported
• donated items
• volunteered
• sang their hearts out
• and helped make the event such a success

This is just the beginning for Shelton Housing First, and we’re excited to keep building momentum together.

Also… we learned som**hing important yesterday:

Next time we might need two karaoke microphones and maybe an emergency “stop singing” button. 😄 because there is no way anyone should have let me finish Hit Me With Your Best Shot lol 😂
