🌧️ STORM UPDATE FOR SHELTON — WHAT TO EXPECT THROUGH THE REST OF TODAY 🌬️
For my friends and neighbors in Shelton, here’s what we can expect as we move through the rest of the day.
⚠️ Power outages may continue to occur. Full foliage on the trees, saturated ground, and continued strong winds are creating a recipe for additional trees and branches to come down. Winds are currently gusting around 35–45 MPH, with some stronger gusts possible. Winds will taper off this afternoon,
🌧️ More rain is expected, adding to already saturated ground and increasing the potential for additional flooding and downed trees.
💨 Winds should gradually decrease. Gusts are expected to slowly subside over the next several hours, reaching approximately 25–35 MPH by early this afternoon**.
🔌Power outages: As of 9:45 AM, UI and Eversource were reporting approximately 29,600 customers without power statewide. Since the beginning of the storm, approximately 150,000 customers have been impacted, with about 120,000 restored.

What should you do?
• Never drive through a flooded roadway — Turn Around, Don't Drown.
• Treat all downed wires as **LIVE** and stay well away from them.
• If you lose power, report your outage directly to your electric utility.
• Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone who may need assistance.
• Keep phones and essential devices charged in case of an extended outage.
• If you encounter a downed tree or wire blocking a roadway, report it to the police.
The good news is that winds are expected to gradually weaken this afternoon, but conditions will remain wet and windy for several throughout most of the day
