🚨 Big change for e-bikes in NJ is official: Gov. Murphy just signed a new law that regulates all e-bikes, including pedal assist cruisers, with new requirements like registration, licensing, and insurance.

The F/V Sea King 👑 has once again emerged from the depths, revealing itself for the first time since its grounding on the Barnegat Light Shoals on February 12, 1963. On that fateful day, the Sea King was towing the minesweeper Prescott for refitting in Atlantic City when both vessels encountered perilous conditions. While the Prescott was successfully refloated, the Sea King became a permanent fixture beneath the shifting sands. Over time, the completion of the Barnegat Inlet jetty in 1992 further sealed its fate, as the altered currents deposited layers of sand over the wreck, obscuring it from view, except the mast, for decades.

This wreck has long been a part of local maritime history, though largely hidden from sight. Its recent reappearance serves as a reminder of the unforgiving waters off the New Jersey coast, where shifting sands and treacherous shoals have claimed many vessels over the centuries. The Sea King’s story is one of resilience and misfortune, now offering a glimpse into a forgotten chapter of Barnegat Lights’s maritime past.
