WHRC is proud to sponsor Black Homeownership Spokane’s homebuyer education cohort, supporting first-time homebuyers in Spokane County as they take steps toward homeownership. Their cohort model is already making an impact, with 30+ new homeowners and more than $600,000 in down payment assistance awarded!

Last month, WHRC and other partners across the Black Home Initiative (BHI) network came together for an in-person working lunch to support BHI’s buyer outreach efforts.

The group discussed programs to highlight in the community, ways to represent BHI through outreach, and how to connect prospective buyers with WHRC for a seamless intake process and next steps.

It was a great opportunity to connect, collaborate, and strengthen our shared commitment to BHI’s homebuyer outreach work.

Affordable homeownership is growing in Seattle!

Wrapping up our Meet the Board series, we're excited to introduce the last of our newest Washington Homeownership Resource Center Board of Directors members.

🎉 Meet Heather Lyons!

As the Homeownership Services Director at Community Frameworks, Heather leads homeownership initiatives across the Pacific Northwest through the HUD-funded Self-Help Homeownership Opportunity Program (SHOP). In Washington State, she oversees direct development, homebuyer education and counseling, and down payment assistance lending, helping more individuals and families achieve homeownership.

Her extensive experience expanding access to affordable homeownership and supporting homebuyers aligns closely with WHRC's mission to connect Washington homeowners and homebuyers with trusted resources and guidance.

We're grateful to welcome Heather to the board and are excited for the leadership, expertise, and commitment she will bring as we continue advancing equitable homeownership opportunities across Washington.
