One thing I’ve noticed over the years is that sellers rarely regret doing too much preparation before listing. More often, they wish they had started a few things sooner.

Three of the biggest ones I hear are:

1️⃣ Decluttering earlier
It always takes longer than expected. Closets, cabinets, the garage, storage areas…buyers notice all of it. Starting early also makes moving day so much easier.

2️⃣ Neutralizing bold paint colors
You may love that deep red dining room or bright blue bedroom, but buyers are trying to picture their furniture and style in the space. A fresh, neutral color can completely change how a room feels in photos and during showings.

3️⃣ Taking care of the little repairs
That loose cabinet handle, dripping faucet, cracked switch plate, or door that doesn’t close quite right may seem minor, but several small issues together can make a buyer wonder what else hasn’t been maintained.

None of these projects have to be overwhelming or expensive. The goal is simply to help your home feel clean, cared for, and move-in ready from the moment a buyer walks through the door.
