Kathy entered the real estate business in 1983 after graduating with a degree in marketing from Northern Illinois University. Kathy soon found her love for new construction specializing in working with home builders. “It was 1988, I was young and blessed to be trained by the best in the business, Lyn Krause /Timberview development!” Lyn chose Kathy to sell & market his 250 home community Cambridge in Joliet, which quickly grabbed the eyes of National builders to the Joliet area. Cambridge subdivision broke all records selling out in less than 2 years! For the next 2 decades, Kathy would play a key role in successfully selling & marketing 18 new communities and over 20,000 new homes across the area. As my father would tell me, "Never quit your day job Mary Katherine", so I always knew my direction was residential existing homes since I love people... so I never stopped listing and selling while handling all the new construction! The residential real estate market entered rough times with the Recession in 2008, while others were trimming their sails, Dames took on the #1 HUD asset and also mastered short sales. Next, she decided to take on the next step in her life; going out on her own in 2011 by opening RE/MAX Ultimate Professionals in Shorewood, Ill. To her surprise, her daughter Shannon joined her in 2012 and is a major asset & co-owner of the company, following uniquely in her mother's footsteps! The new office was an immediate success, and two more offices were added over the next 4 years; in Plainfield & Weber Rd near Romeoville IL.
