It’s the end of a 26 year love story. 4104-4106 N Newhall is now in the hands of a new owner.

Seven marriages took place (only one of those ours) and a couple of babies were conceived during our time as lessors. We’re grateful for the opportunity to get to know so many of our wonderful tenants, and call so many of them friends. Nearly all moved into homes of their own immediately after their stay at Newhall which thrilled us almost as much them. It’s a bittersweet goodbye. So many great memories were made and SO many projects were completed. She brought us much joy and only a few headaches with quick recoveries.

We wish Eric the best of luck with Newhall. We know he appreciates her history and many beautiful qualities, and will be an excellent custodian of her future.

PREVENTING PACKAGE DELIVERY THEFTS

Online shopping is a very popular and convenient way to purchase your holiday gifts. Most of these purchases will involve the items being shipped from the retailer to the home of the customer who purchased them. Thieves are well aware of this and will be looking to take advantage of the potential treasures left outside your door by the various delivery services handling the product shipments.
Listed below are some tips to help reduce the opportunities thieves will have to steal packages delivered to your home:

• Track your packages: Follow shipments from the seller to your front door with online, text message or phone call tracking offered through the delivery company. Sign up for alerts to be notified of delays or exceptions and when the package has been delivered.

• Be available for delivery: Track packages and arrange to be available during estimated delivery times, have a trusted friend or neighbor pick up the packages in a timely manner after delivery or ship to your work address (pending company approval). Package delivery thieves have been known to follow delivery trucks around the area, stealing packages immediately after delivery. If you can't arrange for pickup shortly after delivery, keep reading for alternative safe delivery tips!

• Request a signature: This package delivery feature will likely come with a fee, but without a recipient's signature, the delivery service won't be able to leave a package exposed on a doorstep.

• Personalize delivery: Schedule a certain day and/or time for your package delivery, including evenings and weekends or provide specific instructions on where a package should be placed to keep the delivery hidden from public view. Consumers can also request a package be held at a delivery center for in-person pickup. Fees to personalize do vary by delivery service.

• Ship the item to the local retail outlet for the merchant: Many merchants give you the option to have an item shipped to one of their local retail outlets for pick up. Several of merchants provide this as a free shipping option.

• Ship the item to a local secure storage outlet: Some online retailers give you the option to have the item shipped to a local secure pick up location. For example, Amazon now has their Amazon Locker service. Instead of delivering a package to your home or business address, you can select an Amazon Locker location and pick up your package at a time that's convenient for you. Once your package is delivered to the Amazon Locker, you'll receive an e-mail notification with a unique pickup code that includes the address and opening times for your selected Locker location. When you arrive to collect your package, enter your pickup code or scan the barcode using the barcode scanner and follow the instructions on the screen.

• Use a credit card as the form of payment: When making purchases online, use your credit card rather than a debit card or another form of payment. Credit card companies are more likely to offer refunds in the event of theft.

• Insure valuable items: Purchase delivery insurance to protect merchandise against loss or damage.

We had no idea we were getting a true artist when we hired Todd to paint our home a few years back but his precision and attention to detail should have been my first clue. He's currently painting the 4106 unit and the back hallway at Newhall. He and is partner, Renee Bebeau (also an artist) are awesome!
