Between the years when we owned our coffee shop and before Coffee on the Red opened, my coffee shop fix was Starbucks on Beene Boulevard. It’s probably been five years since I was a regular there, though I’ll still stop in occasionally on a Sunday morning or when meeting a client.

This morning I walked into the Starbucks-the one way over on Line Avenue. I got there early so I could put a listing into MLS before a women’s Bible study meeting. As I stepped up to the counter, the lady behind it greeted me by name.

Her name is Jackie.

What made that special is that Jackie remembered my name from her time working at the Bossier Starbucks more than five years ago.

The feeling you get when someone knows your name is a real thing. There’s a reason that one line from the Cheers theme song still resonates with people decades later: “Where everybody knows your name.”

In real estate, it’s easy for people to become nothing more than leads in a CRM or names in a follow-up campaign. Too often, an agent forgets a client’s name a couple of years after the sale, or the client forgets the agent’s name shortly after closing. Or worse-they don’t recall your name when they drive up to meet you at that first property, after they recently made you virtually sign your life away….with YOUR NAME…to see It.

I’ve always wanted something different than that.
