The Blanchard Water System has had a water main break and due to having to make repairs, the system may be experiencing service interruptions until repairs are complete.
Because of the water being off for an extended period of time, the water produced by our water supply system is of questionable microbiological quality. Customers are asked to please limit water usage until repairs are complete and the advisory has been lifted.
Therefore, as a precaution, the Blanchard Water System is issuing BOIL ADVISORY effective immediately. This BOIL ADVISORY is to remain in effect until rescinded by the Blanchard Water System.
It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means:
Boil water for one full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (The taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle or pouring it from one clean container to another.
Again, please be sure to disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise.

Summer is here and I would like to share my tips on how to help make your summer cooler and reduce your electric bill.

1. In manufactured homes, most central air conditioners only cool 20 degrees from outside temperatures. If it is 100 degrees outside, inside it will be about 80 degrees. If your AC is not cycling off, it is working hard to keep it cool. So may as well set the thermostat to around 75 degrees. It is just a waste of electricity to try to set the thermostat to 60 degrees. It will never get that cool and expect a high electric bill.

2. Check your air filters and replace them every 3 months. Use thinner filters in the summer so to increase air flow. If you have floor vents, vacuum any debris inside the duct work and check for holes. Duct tape any holes you find. No sense in cooling underneath your house.

3. Sunlight streaming in those windows can heat a home quick. Window treatments like curtains, blinds, etc. can help keep your home cooler. Don't forget to keep the door shut!

4. Check the seals around doors and windows. If you can see sunlight when the door is shut, you may need another door seal. Some older homes may have storm windows or double windows. Make sure both windows are closed.

5. Some people think that they are saving money by turning the AC off when they leave the home for an extended time. It actually saves more money if you set your thermostat to 85 degrees. .

6. Humidity makes it feel hotter so try to reduce the humidity in your home by using bathroom exhaust fan when taking a bath or shower. Use the hood exhaust when cooking.

7. Air movement also makes it feel cooler. A couple of fans blowing will help. In the spring and late fall, there are days when it is hotter inside your home than it is outside. We would put a box fan in a window at the end of the trailer that was in the shade and have it blowing inside. Then we put another fan blowing out.

8. Contact your electric company to see about bill averaging. Averaging 12 months of previous electric bills into a monthly amount. Google ways to save money on your electric bill.

I hope these tips are helpful. An electric bill is one of those expenses that you can reduce and stay on budget!

Last renter almost ruined the new floor tile with stains from candle wax, fingernail polish, markers, etc. Learned too late that I should have sealed and polished the floor after installation.
