🏡 LET’S TALK ABOUT HOME UPGRADES…
Not every dollar you put into your house is going to come back to you when you sell.
If you’re renovating a home you plan to stay in, make it YOURS! Add the pool. Install the incredible sound system. Choose the bold wallpaper. Do all the things that make you love living there. ❤️
But if you’re renovating a house you may sell in the next few years, you need to think differently.
💰 UPGRADES THAT CAN ADD VALUE:
✔️ Fresh, neutral paint
✔️ Updated kitchens
✔️ Updated bathrooms
✔️ Good lighting
✔️ Curb appeal
✔️ Well-maintained floors and finishes
💸 UPGRADES THAT ARE OFTEN MORE FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT:
❌ Pools
❌ Built-in audio systems
❌ Highly personalized features
❌ Over-the-top upgrades that don’t fit the neighborhood
And here’s the big one: Kitchens and bathrooms matter. They are some of the first spaces buyers notice, and the condition, layout and finishes can strongly influence how a home is perceived.
So before you spend $50,000 on a renovation, ask yourself:
“Am I renovating for ME… or am I renovating for the NEXT buyer?”
If you’re staying—make it yours.
If you’re selling—spend strategically.
After 20 years of renovating and flipping houses, this is one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned:
Not every upgrade is an investment. Sometimes it’s simply the cost of enjoying your home.
Save this before your next renovation! 🔨🏡
