Unfortunately, one of my listings was once again stolen and used by a scammer advertising the home for rent on TikTok.

The home is actually listed for sale, but the scammer advertised it for $750 month using all of my professional listing photos.

Here’s how the scam works:
• They advertise an unbelievably cheap rent.
• They collect a $75 application fee (sometimes from multiple people).
• You’re instantly “approved.”
• They tell you to send the first month’s rent and claim they’ll give you a code to access the home.
• Once they get your money, they disappear.

Sadly, a young couple fell victim to this scam this past week. Thankfully, they realized it was fake before sending rent money, but they still lost $150 in application fees and had to cancel all of their bank cards.

Please, if you take one thing away from this, let it be this:

•If a rental price seems way too good to be true, it probably is.
•Always Google the property address or type it in Shelby County Auditor…see if the owner matches the online listing
•If the home is listed for sale, call the listing agent before sending anyone money.
•Never send application fees, deposits, or rent to someone you haven’t verified.

This scam is happening all across the country, and unfortunately, it’s becoming more common. I’d much rather answer a phone call than see someone lose their money!!

I just reached year 8 in Real Estate and I’ve spent the past few weeks reflecting on my career.

I think of each real estate transaction like a roller coaster that starts when I meet the client. Some are smooth rides, some have their twist and turns, and I won’t even sugar coat it….some that I walk off of and remember why Lexapro exists.

Each coaster has different theme…the first time buyers or the ready to upgrade. The “we just got married”! Even the, “we’re getting a divorce”. I’ve sat with many emotions whether it be happy or sad or excited or dread. I’ve been known to cry with you when you’re sad and cheer loudly when you’re happy.

There’s also a part to my real estate world that is vulnerable and different, something that someone posting a million Chat GPT generated statuses just for a sale or a sales person only focused on moving a large volume of sales doesn’t understand (and that’s ok). They may even deem me unprofessional for just simply caring too much.

I cherish every roller coaster ride and deeply value every client I interact with. This goes beyond the roller coaster and into the amusement park. My job is to treat you the same regardless of what coaster we’re riding, how high or low we go, or even how expensive of a ride we’re on. I care about my clients even after the home is closed and my loyalty continues through all your future journeys.

I’m thankful for every single ride I’ve been on and cannot wait to see what the amusement park looks like in the future!
