Is it possible to filter out additives from your oil?
Won’t upgraded filters ruin my oil?
These are two of the most common objections I hear whenever fine filtration or offline (kidney-loop) filtration comes up — especially when someone sees “3 µm absolute” on a CJC® Fine Filter.
Let’s set the record straight 👇
🧩 “3 µm will plug everything up!”
Not when it’s installed offline.
A kidney-loop system doesn’t touch your main flow — it slowly polishes the oil in the background. Low flow, low pressure, high dirt-holding capacity.
It’s not about filtering all the oil instantly; it’s about removing the contamination that leads to varnish, sticking valves, and premature wear.
🧪 “You’ll strip out all the additives!”
Additives live in solution, not as 3 µm-sized particles.
What fine filters remove are solid contaminants, oxidation products, and water — the very things that consume additives.
In fact, cleaner oil allows the additive package to last longer and work more effectively.
Fine filtration doesn’t hurt your oil. It protects your investment and operates as an insurance policy for your oil - giving you peace of mind.
Cleaner oil = longer component life, extended oil life, fewer breakdowns.
If you’re serious about reliability, cleanliness isn’t a luxury — it’s the foundation.
