With this extreme heat wave, and the rising costs of electricity, are you considering ways to improve your air conditioning efficiency? If so, here are a few tips to lower your cooling costs:

- Maintain your AC system and schedule routine maintenance. Is it time to upgrade your system?

- Set your thermostat a few degrees higher when you’re away or asleep. Install a programmable thermostat to assist.

- Use ceiling fans and natural ventilation.

- Keep windows and doors sealed and use window shades.

- Change HVAC filters regularly.

- Avoid using the stove and oven during peak hours.

- Shade your AC compressor unit.

- Seal and insulate your home.
