Participants acquire the skills to tackle basic home repairs and the knowledge to negotiate with contractors and home repair companies. They build confidence that they can do more than they previously thought possible, and they are excited to pay this forward in their communities.

With the season of gratitude upon us, we offer our sincere thanks to all who have supported AbodesJoy over the past 18 months--to those who have participated in our programming, those who have lent us their time and expertise as instructors, those who have generously donated toward our work, and those who have helped spread the word about us. We joyfully welcomed our third Home Repair Training Program cohort this fall, hosted a two-part plumbing workshop earlier this month, and are excited to offer a stand-alone electrical workshop in December. We also have exciting plans in the works for 2024.

Last week we announced the launch of our Light It Up campaign. Our goal is to raise $5,000 on Giving Tuesday (11/28) to help ensure that we are able to continue offering free home repair trainings in basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall repair, and tiling skills to diverse women, nonbinary folks, and transgender people.
