Thankful to my husband Brian Steffens, since we’ve got married back in 1988, we started contributing to IRA!! Back then we did it for traditional IRA, then ROTH became available, we switched. Some years, we couldn’t do the max but kept as much as possible.
Now we have enough assets that really don’t have to worry about our retirement. Matter of fact, we are vacationing rapidly along with I enjoy working as a Realtor.
We taught to our kids the basics on finances… hopefully they keep doing and become successful.
Leaving money to our kids is not our goal. Instead, raising them to become a decent citizens and independent.
We are planning to use most of our money for our enjoyment and needs. Just save enough for the costs after we departed.
主人と結婚した1988年から主人の勧めでIRA（個人年金）にお金を入れてました。昔はお金に余裕もなかったから、満額を入れられない年もあったけど、出来る限りやってましたね。
株とかはよくわからないけど，個人年金、特に途中からできたROTH IRAは最低限利用すべきシステム。でも意外にも知らない人がいてびっくりします。
こういうことは義務教育の必須科目にすべき重要課題です。あとは、クレジットカードの使い方とかね。欲しいものを我慢せずにカードで軽く買ってしまい、分割で支払う。そんなことしてたら借金しか残らない。アメリカ人はその感覚が麻痺してる人が多数。
うちの息子たちには「クレカはで使って良い額は、毎月全額支払いできる分だけ。絶対に分割で払ってはいけないよ」と教えてきました。ちゃんと守れてるのかはわかりませんが、親として出来ることは、子供に財産を残すことではなく、独立してそれなりの幸せな生活を送れるように育てることだと夫婦で信じてます。
だから、私たちは子供に財産残すために節約なんて、微塵も考えてません。むしろ、長生きしすぎて足りなくならない程度に、旅行や必要なものにケチケチせずにお金を使い、最後はゼロ！が理想。ま、葬式大や諸々の経費で誰かの世話にならないで済む額は残しますけどね。
私の今の仕事も、楽しすぎて引退する気なし🤣
バケーションとのバランスとりつつ、なるべく長く自分で動ける体を維持していきたいです。

I’m proud of my home country and those fans demonstrating our respectful culture!!

After Japan’s thrilling 2-2 draw with the Netherlands at the 2026 World Cup, hundreds of Japanese fans stayed behind to clean the stadium.

Using the same blue bags they had waved during the match, they picked up trash from the stands while most spectators headed home. The tradition comes from Japan’s culture of respecting shared spaces and leaving places better than they found them.

The moment became even more memorable when NFL star Jameis Winston joined in, helping fans clean the stands while wearing a Japan jersey.

A draw on the scoreboard, but a win for sportsmanship, respect, and class.
