In response to the extreme heat, the City of Simi Valley has designated the Simi Valley Senior Center, located at 3900 Avenida Simi, as a Cooling Center.
From Thursday, September 5, through Friday, September 6, 2024, the Senior Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day to provide residents with a cool and safe space.
Additionally, the Simi Valley Public Library, located at 2969 Tapo Canyon Road, will also serve as a Cooling Center during its normal hours of operation.
The library will be open on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of these cooling centers, especially those who are vulnerable to extreme heat or who may experience a temporary power outage. Both the Senior Center and the library offer a safe place to escape the heat.
For residents in need of ADA-accessible transportation to and from the Cooling Center, Simi Valley Transit is available by calling (805) 583-6464.
