On Saturday, August 24th, and Sunday, August 25th the Sioux City Country Club hosted its annual Men's, Seniors, Women's, and Junior Club Championship. The hot, humid weather did not scare away our field of competitors who battled the golf course and the elements trying to etch their names in club history.
The Junior Club Championship consisted of a Girl's 18-hole, Girl's 9-hole, Boy's 18-hole and Boys 9-hole divisions. In the Girl's 9-hole division, Clara B. took the lead after hole #1 and never looked back claiming the 9-hole title with an excellent 59, we had no participants for the 18-hole division.
The Boys 9-hole championship says Lincoln L. came out on top after shooting a round of 58 topping the field to win the championship. The 18-hole boy's division turned into a two-person race midway through the front 9, when Austin S Jr. pulled away from Will F. and the rest of the chasing pack, carding a very solid round of 90, better 2nd place by 9 shots.
Our Senior Club Championship was a four-person race that saw Mitch Merrill's 82 holding a one-shot lead over Mark Condon with 83, Kevin Knepper with 87, and Gary Smith with a 91. Sunday's final round started off with Mitch Merrill's birdie on #1 expanding his lead that he would not relinquish shooting a final round 77 for a two-day total of 159 to capture the 2024 Senior Club Championship. Mark Condon finished 2nd with 167, Knepper third with 168 and Smith fourth with 174.

On Saturday, August 24th the club hosted the 2024 Women's Club Championship featuring 18-holes of stroke play with the low gross being our club champion and our low net being the net club champion.
The ladies started the championship with a th*****me at 9:30 am on a pleasant morning, overcast skies and a light cool breeze welcomed them to the first tee. Opening tee shots were struck and the ladies were off to determine our club champions.
Jennifer Jackson and Vickie Perera open the event with solid fours on the first hole to take an early lead. Gabi Galinsky's round started off slowly but started to get back into the action after a few holes.
Jackson and Perera exchanged 5's on the second hole and remained in a tie for the lead, on three Jackson took the lead in the event with a par on #4, #13, and #17. Galinsky made a push with a net 3 on #10 net 2 on #13 and net par of #14. Perera bounced back on four with a net par and put together a good stretch from #12 to #14 but just could not close the gap.
As the sun began to warm the temperatures into the low 90's the ladies club championship was on the #18 hole putting out to decide the champions. Gabi Galinsky finished 3rd overall and 2nd net with a net score of 91, finishing four shots ahead and winning the 2024 Women's Net Club Championship was Vickie Perera with a net 87.
Holding off the field and finishing before a large crowd around the 18th green and upper patio Jennifer Jackson finished her round of 85 to claim the 2024 Women's Club Championship.
